HiPS

HiPS (Hierarchical Progressive Surveys) images enable global visualization and navigation through the Sky Viewer application, or pointing to a pre-selected list of targets in the Target Viewer.

The HiPS format organizes astronomical images into progressive resolution levels, making sky exploration efficient at different scales. Official documentation is available at aladin.cds.unistra.fr/hips.
